Ferrari and Frederic Vasseur reach agreement on new ‘multiple-year contract’

Despite speculation that his tenure was at risk, Frederic Vasseur has reached agreement on a new contract with Ferrari
The tenure of Frederic Vasseur as Team Principal at Ferrari has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks, as Italian media have speculated that he is on the verge of being fired by the Formula 1 team.
Ferrari put that speculation to rest on Thursday, announcing a “multiple-year contract” extension for the Ferrari boss.
Vasseur joined the team ahead of the 2023 season, a year that saw the team finish third in the Constructors’ Championship standings, just three points behind Mercedes. They finished second a season ago, 12 points behind McLaren in a season-long fight that went down to the final laps of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
With Lewis Hamilton joining the team for the 2025 campaign, expectations were high in Maranello. However, Ferrari started out slowly this year, leading to speculation over Vasseur’s tenure. But that speculation was put to rest today.
“Today we want to recognize what has been built and commit to what still needs to be achieved,” said Benedetto Vigna, CEO of Ferrari. “It reflects our trust in Fred’s leadership — a trust rooted in shared ambition, mutual expectations and clear responsibility. We move forward with determination and focus, united in our pursuit of the level of performance Ferrari has to aim for.”

The announcement comes just ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, the last race before F1’s annual summer shutdown.
