You’re in Miami, you have to try…
Cuban food. It is a must in Miami, and the Calle Ocho section has some of the best you can find anywhere. The world famous Versailles is amazing, but Sergio’s is another local favorite with a few locations throughout town for terrific Cuban food and strong coffee. In addition to being a food city, nightlife is what attracts people to Miami. From Mango’s on South Beach to Club Liv in Miami Beach to E11even in Miami, there are dozens of clubs and bars for you to enjoy. And if you’re on South Beach after hours in need of something to eat, Pizza Rustica on Washington Avenue is open until 5:00am to give you a great taste of Italy before you sleep off the fun.
What are some tips for gameday at Hard Rock Stadium?
Hard Rock Stadium seats close to 65,000 people, but it’s also set in a place where there are no great options for public transportation. Thus, most people drive to the stadium and utilize one of the several parking areas located around the stadium. There are some lots where tailgating is allowed, and they usually require parking passes that are secured in advance. Fans can also utilize rideshare options like Uber or Lyft, or they can take the Brightline to Aventura Station and get a rideshare or taxi from there.
The stadium also has a clear bag policy, but be mindful of any rules that FIFA implements for the Club World Cup may be different when it comes to the admittance of bags into the stadiums. There are also special ADA areas and accessible parking and entrance points for those that require them. Hard Rock Stadium has an entire A-Z section of its website to answer all frequently asked questions. Give yourself ample time to arrive at the parking lot as well as getting into the stadium, as the entry process could be slower than normal due to FIFA security regulations.
I’m in Miami for a few days. What should I do while I’m there?
Everyone will tell you the obvious in checking out South Beach for the nightlife (particularly Ocean Drive and the Art Deco District), but if you’re looking for a beach that’s quiet but still gives you the Miami vibes, Crandon Beach on Key Biscayne is your destination. For a cool art scene, head to Wynwood where art mixes with fashion mixes with nightlife. It’s become one of the go-to spots in town. Finally, take a cruise up to Fort Lauderdale, where Las Olas Boulevard has nightlife but is also a great place during the day to enjoy fun in the sun, from the beach to the world famous Elbo Room.
I don’t have a ticket, but I want to check out the game. Any suggestions?
If you’re in Miami-Dade County, head to the Fritz & Franz Bierhaus in Coral Gables, one of the best soccer bars in South Florida. They are the go-to spot for soccer fans of all teams for all tournaments. In Hollywood, Mickey Byrne’s Irish Pub is a soccer staple and you’ll be able to watch soccer all day and night.
Where’s a good place to get a bite to eat?
In addition to the Cuban options mentioned above, La Sandwicherie on South Beach is a small shack serving up supreme sandwiches that are terrific for a day on the beach. In Wynwood, check out Manta for incredible Peruvian food, including some of the best lomo saltado you can find. There are some excellent Haitian spots where you can have the local fare in this multilingual city. Finally, if you desire a really nice meal, if you can get into Prime 112, be prepared to spend some money…but the meal is tremendous.
There it is, your guide to Miami. If you’re headed to South Florida for the matches, the city has tons for you to enjoy. So, disfruta todo…bienvenidos a Miami!
