Taylor Rooks broke the Rockets trade to KD live on stage.
The 2024-2025 NBA season is down to one final game, as the Oklahoma City Thunder host the Indiana Pacers tonight in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. However, the first major move of the 2025-2026 campaign has just been announced.
And in an incredible bit of timing, the key player involved in the blockbuster stage was in the middle of a press event when the news broke.
According to multiple reports, the Phoenix Suns are trading Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets. As first reported by ESPN NBA Insider Shams Charania, the two-time NBA Finals MVP is headed to the Rockets in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft, and five second-round picks. As the news broke, Durant was on stage at Fanatics Fest in New York City with broadcaster Taylor Rooks:

After initially questioning whether the news was real, Durant kept his reaction to a minimum. “We’re gonna see man, we’re gonna see,” said the NBA star.
This is a massive deal for Houston. As noted by our own Ricky O’Donnell in his analysis of the trade, “[i]t’s hard to say how impactful KD will be in year-19 of his career, but his shooting can always be counted on. The Rockets got significantly better with this deal while shedding a bad contract. This is as good as it gets.”
As for Phoenix, well, not every trade is a winner for both sides …
