All-round Wareham sinks Sydney Sixers
@B0$
Georgia Wareham put on an all-round clinic (3-21 and 49* off 29) to keep Melbourne Renegades in the hunt for a top-four finish. Her first effort kept third-placed Sydney Sixers down to 130 for 9, and the second enabled the Renegades in chase. With that, the Renegades finish the league stage on 10 points and fourth spot. They now await results of the other teams around them to learn their fate. Perth Scorchers - also on 10 points, can usurp them if they beat bottom-placed Brisbane Heat in their last game. Adelaide Strikers - at sixth with eight points - will also be in the mix if they can beat Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Sixers - the teams currently sitting at #1 and #3.
Sixers were hamstrung in the game by the lack of batting support for Ellyse Perry, who top-scored with a 47-ball 65. Incredibly, the next best effort was Ashleigh Gardner's 16 as seven other batters fell for single-digit scores (including two ducks). Renegades' bowling was top-class as Wareham was flanked by more effective bowlers - Alice Capsey (2-27) and Sophie Molineux (1-21). In chase, Renegades were rattled early as they fell to 29 for 3 by the seventh over. That became 49 for 4 close to the halfway stage when Wareham and Courtney Webb joined forces. They hit nine fours and two sixes between them to race away and @L0$with a whirlwind partnership of 85 from just 43 deliveries.
@B1$ Sydney Sixers 130/9 in 20 overs (Ellyse Perry 65; Georgia Wareham 3-21, Alice Capsey 2-27) lost to Melbourne Renegades 134/4 in 16.2 overs (Georgia Wareham 49*; Maitlan Brown 2-45) by 6 wickets

The WBBL fixture between the Adelaide Strikers and the Hobart Hurricanes at the Karen Rolton Oval was abandoned in bizarre circumstances after the pitch was inadvertently damaged during the innings break.
Asked to bat first, the Strikers posted a strong 167/4 on the back of Madeline Penna's unbeaten 63 off 51. However, before the Hurricanes had a chance to bat, a stray ball being used for warmups made its way onto the pitch as it was being rolled and was caught under the roller. Consequently, a significant divot was formed and conditions were deemed "materially different than those the Strikers had experienced" as per a Cricket Australia statement.
The statement further read that the game was abandoned after a consultation between the match officials and captains of both teams, who were accepting of the decision. Points were split between the two sides.
