Photos: Presidents Cup golfers, wives impress on the red carpet at opening gala

One annual tradition at the Presidents Cup is the gala where it allows players and captains to dress up and look fabulous.

Like the Ryder Cup, the Presidents Cup features an opening gala. At this gala, the players, captains, and wives dress their best and come together before the competition starts.

Some people in golf call in their “prom.” Captains Jim Furyk and Mike Weir looked fantastic with their wives and set the tone for their teams.

Team USA and the International Team all take photos in groups and individually, and of course, they get that one photo Rickie Fowler made popular—the one single guy shrugging as the rest embrace their significant other.

This year, there were some great photos of both teams and as the fashion guru, I wanted to share them so they prove these guys can dress up when they need to.

Tom Kim gave his best Fowler impression but put his own spin on it. The wives’ dresses were immaculate, and it looked like they had a great time.

Let’s check out some of my favorite photos from the night, which showcase how great these two teams looked.

First, let’s take a look at both teams.

I love that Team USA wore blue suits instead of black. That subtle nod to patriotic colors is a great choice, and it looks fantastic with their wives and girlfriends’ dresses. The Americans went with a more traditional look with the ties, but it works because it throws in that little red you need.

The international team wore black suits, which are part of their colors. Their choice to go with no tie is a choice, but it works because they also paired the fit with black and white Nikes.

I liked each team’s two choices because they allowed them to have their own style.

Now, to the more fun part, I’m seeing these outfits a little more up close.

I wanted to share the photos that did not quite make the Getty list but are hilarious.

Team International has quite the personality.

Kim fully embraced being the single guy on the International team. He gave the main character energy while taking photos.

The close-up ones are also great. Golf reporter Claire Rogers always finds a way to get the shots everyone wants to see. For example, look at Meredith Scheffler’s dress—it is so different but classically trendy. Also, seeing Keegan Bradley take photos like the dad he is made us grin.

This one from Rogers is also noteworthy for helping all the boyfriends who need to learn how to take photos. Take notes, guys, and do not be like Brian Harman.

Can’t teach you about swing mechanics but I can help you guys be good Instagram boyfriends. Always hold the phone at (or slightly above) eye level and for the love of god keep the phone vertical pic.twitter.com/25NKrwi4hN

Seeing the golfers out of their element and wearing suits is always great. They are human, and it is one of the few times we see them without golf stuff on. Who doesn’t love those hat-tan lines because we do?
