Maddy Siegrist returns to the lineup after being sidelined for 17 games with a knee fracture.

It’s been a tough year on the health front for the Dallas Wings. The Wings are 8-20 — good for the league’s second-worst record — and have dealt with a slew of injuries, including a season-ending knee injury suffered by guard Ty Harris. But, on Thursday afternoon, the team shared good news — forward Maddy Siegrist, who missed the last 17 games due to a fracture in her kneecap — will return for Friday’s game against the Indiana Fever.

Siegrist has been a core piece for the Wing since she was drafted third overal in 2023. The former Villanova star had a limited role in her rookie season, averaging 3.7 points in 8.2 minutes per game. Then, in her second season, she found her offensive footing, averaging 9.4 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. But, she missed significant time with a finger injury, and wasn’t the same upon her return.

Maddy Siegrist rejoins a Wings team led by Paige Bueckers, Arike Ogunbowale

This season, Siegrist appeared in 11 games before injuring her knee, and was averaging 9.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. The Wings are likely out of playofff contention, but with Arike Ogunbowale and Paige Bueckers developing strong on-court chemistry, getting Siegrist back will only make the offense more dynamic.

This season, Bueckers has averaged 18.3 points, 5.5 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.8 steals, while Ogunbowale has averaged 16 points and 4.2 assists. DiJonai Carrington, acquired via trade in the offseason, is averaging 10.7 points, and 5.2 rebounds.

The Wings rank near the bottom of the league in most offensive categories, and Siegrist’s return — and multi-dimensional scoring ability — should help in this regard.
